71st Over
Tasmania and Victoria have drawn the opening Toyota Futures League match at John Blanck Oval on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, with Tasmania taking first innings points. Thanks for reading and we'll be back for Match 2 on Monday.
Tasmania 404 (Silk 89, Wells 83, Gulbis 56) & 5d/182 (Wells 54, Cazzulino 51, Boland 3/31) drew with Victoria 281 (Carters 136, Rainbird 4/36) and 8/205 (Keath 42, van der Gugten 3/22).
We saw some good individual performances particularly from Ryan Carters yesterday. Jon Wells had a great all round game while Scott Boland and Sam Rainbird were the best of the bowlers. The match ending in a draw.
A good contest here on the Sunshine Coast with Tasmania always slightly in front but Victoria fighting hard and refusing to lay down. Both sides can be quite happy with their performance on a pitch difficult for scoring runs and taking wickets.
C.Rose - 20* (90), S.Boland - 3* (40). Unbeaten 9th wicket partnership of 22 runs.
Over 70.6: Allanby to Rose, FOUR, down the pitch and whacks a drive over mid off to end this match. Victoria do very well to save the match and claim a draw. VIC 8/205 (Rose 20, Boland 3)
Over 70.5: Allanby to Rose, no run, defends a flatter ball down the pitch and now the game is safe!
Over 70.4: Allanby to Rose, no run, gets across and defends to short leg.
Over 70.3: Allanby to Rose, no run, well forward and taps the ball down.
Over 70.2: Allanby to Rose, no run, stretches forward and defends away.
Over 70.1: Allanby to Rose, no run, gets back and defends to the off-side.
70th Over
Over 69.6: Wells to Boland, no run, leaves the ball outside off stump to end this match. VIC 8/201 (Rose 16, Boland 3). The umpires have said there's time for one more over!
Over 69.5: Wells to Boland, no run, gets well forward and defends to the leg-side. Victoria have saved this match now.
Over 69.4: Wells to Boland, no run, well forward and defends back down the pitch.
Over 69.3: Wells to Boland, no run, drives an attempted yorker straight to mid off.
Over 69.2: Wells to Boland, no run, well forward and defends solidly to the off-side.
Over 69.1: Wells to Boland, no run, everyone around the bat apart from mid off and mid on as Boland gets back and defends.
