13th Over
The Sydney Sixers have thrashed the Highveld Lions by 10 wickets with 45 balls to spare to win the 2012 Champions League Twenty20 tournament on South Africa. Thanks for reading and congratulations to the KFC Big Bash League defending Champions!
Sydney Sixers 0/124 - Lumb 82* (42), Haddin 37* (33) defeated Highveld Lions 122 - Symes 51 (46), Hazelwood 3/22 (4), McCullum 3/24 (4). Man of the Match is Michael Lumb and Man of the Series is Mitchell Starc.
Lumb's unbeaten 82 has also got him the Golden Bat award for most runs in the tournament. Mitchell Starc takes the bowling award as well to highlight just how strong this side has been. They go through undefeated.
The Sixers won this game largely in the field with all of the bowlers hitting good areas. The fielding was outstanding and they restricted the Lions to a total 50 runs below par. Then Michael Lumb and Haddin blazed away to a massive victory.
Brad Haddin says they have been building for this game for two weeks and he looks a very proud captain. Remember he did this with a fractured thumb tonight. His captaincy was great and he takes most of the credit for opening with spin - a masterstroke.
It has taken the Sydney Sixers barely an hour to chase this total down. The Highveld Lions were shell-shocked tonight and played like a side who lost their nerve on the big stage. From 4/9 on a belter of a pitch, the Lions never had a hope.
Over 12.3: Pretorius to Lumb, FOUR, slices a drive over backward point and the Sydney Sixers have completed a 10 wicket thrashing to win the 2012 Champions League Twenty20!
