15th Over
Join us again on Friday for live coverage of the 1st ODI of the Commonwealth Bank Series between Australia and West Indies in Perth. Goodbye from the MCG!
Well that brings an end to Sri Lanka's tour of Australia. They will go home delighted after winning the KFC International T20 Series.
However we shouldn't be distracted away from what turned out to be a thriller of a match, which Sri Lanka win by 2 runs (D/L Method). The attendance for today's Public Holiday KFC T20 International was 39,427.
The long delay prior to the final delivery was caused by 5 or 6 Sri Lanka fieldsman joining the bowler for a lengthy discussion to discuss tactics for the final delivery.
As they players leave the ground, there is alot of tension between both teams, with Maxwell and Wade in particular quite upset with Jayawardene and Mathews regarding a lengthy delay prior to the last delivery which halted the momentum of Maxwell
Maxwell is devastated that he couldn't lay bat on ball. The Sri Lankan team are extremely jubilant now that they have secured a 2-nil series victory. The rain delay brought Australia back into the run chase, but they fell just short of the revised target
Over 14.6: NLTC Perera to Maxwell, bye, Maxwell backs away to attempt the same shot to a full delivery outside off stump, but he fails to make contact and can only score 1 bye. AUS 3/119 (Marsh 47, Maxwell 8)
Over 14.5: NLTC Perera to Maxwell, FOUR, wide low full toss receives the same treatment! The field is up behind point, so Maxwell slices his shot over the field to the rope again! Need 4 to win off the last ball!

Over 14.2: NLTC Perera to Marsh, (no ball) two runs, high full toss is called no ball, caught on the rope at long on but Marsh survives. Crucial error by Perera with the slippery ball

Over 14.1: NLTC Perera to Bailey, two runs, full delivery is steered towards deep point, allowing enough time for Bailey to run hard for two. Need 16 off 5 balls
14th Over
T Perera will replace Kulasekara (3-0-18-1) at the Southern End to bowl the final over. Australia require 18 runs off 6 balls to win

Over 13.5: Malinga to Bailey, one run, awkward shot, moving early to the off side to attempt a ramp, Malinga bowled very wide and Bailey can only manage an inside edge into the pad
Over 13.4: Malinga to Bailey, two runs, wide a full delivery is slapped to deep point, hard running secures two runs
Over 13.3: Malinga to Bailey, FOUR, slower ball is sent over square leg to the boundary, just after they brought up the sweeper so that fine leg could go back
Over 13.2: Malinga to Bailey, FOUR, stepping across to the off side to flick a wide and full delivery over short fine leg to the boundary. A well executed shot

10th Over
A Mendis will resume at the Southern End after the rain delay.
However the umpires have indicated that play will resume at 10:46pm, with 5 overs lost (15 over match). The new target is 122 runs to win off 15 overs. That equates to 62 more runs off 5 overs to win.
The Sri Lankan team do not look keen to play, as they consider the outfield still slippery, and because they have victory sealed if there was no further play.
The rain has eased and the covers have been removed. The outfield remains quite slippery and the Umpires are allowing more time for it to dry. We are likely to have a reduction in overs and a new target set by Duckworth/Lewis Method.
Currently the par score after 10 overs is 2/74, which would mean Sri Lanka will win on Duckworth/Lewis Method if there is no further play.
The rain becomes heavier, forcing the umpires to call for the covers to come on. There is very little rain on the radar, so we should get some more play tonight.
