19th Over
Goodbye from the MCG after another night of amazing KFC Big Bash League cricket.
The Renegades now go 4 points clear on top of the ladder with 1 game remaining, to ensure a home final. The Stars now must win their final home match on Tuesday night against the Thunder to give them a chance to make the Semi Finals.
Captain Aaron Finch 67* led the way again with the bat, to claim another man of the match award. He was well supported by Alex Doolan (30), Peter Nevill (24*) and Marlon Samuels (17 before he retired hurt).
The Renegades completely outplayed the Stars tonight, restricting the Stars to an underpar total, before cruising in the run chase on a belter of a pitch.
There is sure to be much said about this match in the wash up with the welfare of Samuels after his facial injury an issue, along with a huge focus on the on-field altercation between Warne and Samuels
The 3rd edition of the Melbourne Derby had everything! Runs, Wickets, Team Hat-Tricks, altercations, controversy, blood spilt and a huge record crowd of 46,581. The Renegades take the points twice this season against their cross town rivals.
Over 18.5: Hastings to Nevill, one run, ramp shot beats short fine leg, notching an extremely comprehensive 9 wicket victory for the Renegades over their local rivals with 7 balls to spare
