18th Over
MATCH RESULT: Australia 2/147 (Watson 70, Hussey 45*, White 21*, Morkel 1/23, Peterson 1/41) df. South Africa 5/146 (Peterson 32*, Behardien 31*, Duminy 30, Doherty 3/20, Watson 2/29) by 8 wickets. Points: AUS 2, PAK 0. MOM: Shane Watson (AUS)
No surprises who the man of the match is, Shane Watson for the fourth time this tournament. Man of the match in all four matches - unheard of! Two more wickets and he blasted a half century to all but see the Aussies home. Thanks for your company. See ya!
For South Africa, they are all but eliminated from the tournament, an uncharacteristically poor performance in the field but they never had enough runs on the board, their fielding effort made it even more difficult for them to defend their total of 146.
Cameron White got some time in the middle as he and Hussey saw the Aussies home with 14 deliveries to spare. Australia continue their unbeaten run in this tournament.
After a slow start, he accelerated in the middle overs and along with Mike Hussey, had Australia cruising to victory, another half century for Shane Watson who is middling almost every delivery at the moment.
Australia have cruised home at the R.Premadasa Stadium, another convincing win, they are in fine form and man of the tournament so far, Shane Watson is in rare form with the bat and the ball!
Over 17.4: Botha to White, SIX, all over, heaves a ball tossed up outside off, over the deep mid wicket fence, the Aussies win by 8 wickets!
Over 17.3: Botha to Hussey, one run, around the wicket, waits for it to bounce, works it wide of mid on, comfortable single once again
Over 17.2: Botha to White, one run, turns to leg as he waits for it, glances it backward of square, single taken
Over 17.1: Botha to Hussey, one run, slides straight on, well played, back and turned in front of square leg
17th Over
South Africa having a shocker in the field! In fairness to de Villiers the ball from Peterson skidded through but should have been taken and the stumping affected. Only 9 needed now from 18 deliveries.
Over 16.6: Peterson to White, FOUR, tossed up and picks his spot, mid on is up so he lobs it over him, one bounce four. AUS 2/138 (Hussey 42, White 14)
Over 16.5: Peterson to Hussey, one run, short ball wide of off, clubs it out to deep cover
Over 16.4: Peterson to Hussey, SIX, and now Hussey takes full toll, maximum toll in fact, lofted high, just clears the long on rope
Over 16.3: Peterson to Hussey, no run, MISSED STUMPING, well down the track, the ball keeps low and passes underneath the bat, de Villiers spills it!
Over 16.2: Peterson to White, one run, gets well down the track and works it through mid wicket for a single
Over 16.1: Peterson to Hussey, one run, tossed up wide of off and he sweeps it behind square
16th Over
Wayne Parnell is having a poor match! Dale Steyn replaced by Robin Peterson at the Maligawatte End. 21 needed from 24. Should be a walk in the park from here.
Over 15.6: Botha to White, FOUR, thrashes the bat at this one, swings across his body, one bounce to Parnell running around from long on, knocks it over the rope, oh dear. AUS 2/125 (Hussey 34, White 9)
Over 15.5: Botha to White, no run, some extra bounce as he defends it back to the bowler
Over 15.4: Botha to Hussey, one run, around the wicket, angled in, reverse sweeps to short third man for a quick single
Over 15.3: Botha to White, one run, looping delivery outside off, sweeps it to deep square for a single
Over 15.2: Botha to White, no run, sliding in towards off, defends on the back foot to cover point
Over 15.1: Botha to Hussey, one run, well down the track, pushes it backward of point, easy single taken
