20th Over
Wow, that with the game in South Africa last night proves anything can happen in cricket. We'll do it again tomorrow with the Fire and the ACT. Thanks for reading, cheers.
Konica Minolta Queensland Fire 9/117 - Mooney 28(28), Bulow 23(31), Owen 3/12(2) defeated ACT Meteors 9/117 - Anneveld 26(18), Britt 24(28), Jonassen 2/26(4) on a boundary countback.
Then it came down to boundary 4's of which Queensland hit 12 and ACT hit 10. Calling this a close match doesn't even do it justice, the most amazing finish to this game.
This countback covered both the regular innings and Super Over. It initially came down to total 6's, which was tied at 1 each.
There's a massive cheer in the viewing area below us so someone has won - looks like Queensland. The official result is Queensland win on a boundary countback.
The Umpires and Match Referee are currently studying over the rules and the scorecards so we will have an official result shortly. We think it's Queensland, but this is to be confirmed.
Now, the rules we think state if the combined 6's are equal it comes down to total 4's hit in both innings. We think Queensland have hit 12 and ACT have hit 10.
ACT hit one 6 in their main innings and Queensland hit one in the Super Over. So that's still tied.
So now what? The players are shaking hands and the umpires have the Stumps. We're hearing that the team with the most 6's combined from BOTH innings will win.
Ball 6: Anneveld to Daley, 1 run, mis-times a drive to the off-side and they're running. The throw comes in to the bowler, the bails are off but I don't think she had the ball. Umpire Kangur says not out and we have a Draw!!
Ball 5: Anneveld to Daley, 0 runs, gets back and beaten by a flat ball outside off stump. 2 to win off the last ball.
Ball 4: Anneveld to Jonassen, 1 run, drives hard along the ground but straight to extra cover. 2 off 2 with Daley on strike.
Ball 3: Anneveld to Jonassen, SIX, huge shot from Jonassen. It was the same shot but this time she went high and long. The ball sailed over the rope! 3 off 3.
Ball 2: Anneveld to Jonassen, 1 run, OUT, flicks a drive down to long on. They're taking a risky single and the throw from Hungerford is perfect to beat the dive from Bulow. 9 off 4 to win, 1 wicket in hand. Daley in.
Ball 1: Anneveld to Bulow, 1 run, down the pitch and flicks a drive to deep midwicket. 10 off 5
The Konica Minolta Queensland Fire need 11 runs off 6 balls. Batting is Melissa Bulow and Jess Jonassen, while Charlotte Anneveld has the ball for the ACT Meteors.
Ball 6: Jonassen to Smith, 2 runs, clubbed away high over midwicket but it plugs short of the rope. ACT finish at 0/10, so Queensland need 11 runs to win.
Ball 5: Jonassen to Anneveld, 1 run, Knocked down through the slip region. ACT 0/8
Ball 4: Jonassen to Smith, 1 run, Lofted away safely in the air over extra cover. ACT 0/7
Ball 3: Jonassen to Anneveld, 1 run, Clubs a single down the ground. ACT 0/6
Ball 2: Jonassen to Anneveld, FOUR, Chipped away high in the air down the ground. There's almost a chance for a catch but she can't get there! ACT 0/5
Ball 1: Jonassen to Smith, 1 run, Full ball mis-timed with a drive down to long on. ACT 0/1
Jess Jonassen is bowling and it's Asha Smith on strike. Her partner is Charlotte Anneveld.
So Queensland are in the field again, since they were bowling in the second innings. They have one over to bowl, two wickets to take.
The No Ball called at square leg by Umpire Kangur allowed ACT the extra ball, and they took the single to tie it up. We're not in a great position here, but the No Ball had to be for the field.
Over 19.6: Jonassen to Moylan, one run, pushes the ball away to the off-side and we have a tie. Going to a Super Over - second one in three games for the Fire.
Over 19.5: Jonassen to Ruck, (no ball) one run, mis-times a drive to the leg-side but it's a No Ball!! Called at square leg, had to be for the field! So now 2 to win off the last ball, not a free hit!!
Over 19.5: Jonassen to Moylan, one run, thinks about skipping down the pitch but waits to drive. She gets an edge to short third man. 4 to win off the last ball!
Over 19.4: Jonassen to Ruck, one run, clubs the drive straight to midwicket again for a run. 5 off 2.
Over 19.3: Jonassen to Moylan, one run, down the pitch and slaps a drive to long off. 6 off 4.
Over 19.2: Jonassen to Ruck, one run, pushes a quick single to midwicket. So now they need 7 off 4, just 1 wicket in hand.
Over 19.1: Jonassen to Dick, one run, OUT, gets back and pulls the ball high over square leg. The ball lands safely but they've very slow taking the second. Mooney's throw is perfect to Fields and Dick is run out by a mile. 8 to win off 5 balls, Ruck in.
