The XXXX Gold Queensland Bulls are the 2011/12 Bupa Sheffield Shield Champions, defeating the PKF Tasmanian Tigers by 3 wickets. Thanks for reading throughout the season, on behalf of our team it's been a pleasure bringing you these matches. Cheers.
Queensland 276 (Hartley 111, Hopes 58, Butterworth 4/54) & 7/133 (Magoffin 26*, Hartley 19*, Faulkner 3/27) defeated Tasmania 241 (Cazzulino 68, McDermott 6/54) & 167 (Cowan 71, Hopes 5/61) by 3 wickets. Man of the Match - Chris Hartley
This has been a classic game of First Class cricket and one that shows, without doubt, the Sheffield Shield competition and indeed the Final itself is alive and well. The Queensland Bulls secure their 7th Sheffield Shield. We had a great crowd in too.
We can't forget Tasmania though who had their moments in this final. Ed Cowan was great as were the bowlers today. They fought until the very end under the leadership of Ricky Ponting and can be very proud of their efforts.
On a bowlers pitch, Chris Hartley produced one of the finest hundreds you will see. He came in at 5/55 in the first innings but in his own gritty style, piled on 111 runs to turn this match. He was there too hitting the runs that secured the Shield.
However enter Chris Hartley and Steve Magoffin. These two added 97 in the first innings and were again the men for a crisis. Hartley has battled the flu and Magoffin has a back injury, but they were outstanding today. An unbeaten 45 run stand to win it.
Chasing just 133 runs to win, Queensland were in control at 2/83 but then all of a sudden it changed. Tasmania went not once, not twice, but FIVE times to have the Bulls in all sorts of trouble at 7/88 with 45 runs to win.
C.Hartley - 19* (48 balls, 86 minutes), S.Magoffin - 26* (63 balls, 75 minutes). Unbeaten 8th wicket partnership of 45 runs.
Over 62.1: Krejza to Magoffin, one run, cuts hard into the covers and there it is!! The XXXX Gold Queensland Bulls win the 2011/12 Bupa Sheffield Shield!

Over 61.6: Faulkner to Hartley, no run, right behind the ball and Hartley defends it back down the pitch. Magoffin will have the chance to hit the winning runs.. QLD 7/132 (Hartley 19, Magoffin 25)
Over 61.5: Faulkner to Hartley, no run, on the crease and defends it down into the gully.
Over 61.4: Faulkner to Hartley, no run, the field is up and Hartley clips it straight to square leg. The Bulls squad is waiting, worse result now is a tie which gets them the Shield.
Over 61.3: Faulkner to Hartley, no run, gets back to a slower one and knocks it away to gully.
Over 61.2: Faulkner to Hartley, two runs, turns defensively down through the gully and that's the two runs that claim the Sheffield Shield!! Need 1 more to win the match but the title is theirs!
Over 61.1: Faulkner to Hartley, no run, pokes at a full ball swinging away passed the edge.

Over 60.5: Krejza to Magoffin, no run, shuffles across and taps the ball to the leg-side.
Over 60.4: Krejza to Hartley, one run, back for a flatter ball and he cuts it through point. There's a man in the deep so they'll settle for a single. 3 to win, 2 to tie.
