And that concludes our coverage of the 'Big Final' and the 2011/12 KFC Big Bash League. Stay tuned for more Domestic and International Cricket as the Summer of Cricket continues. Cheers from the WACA!
Congratulations to the Sydney Sixers, the inaugural winners of the KFC Big Bash League!
David Hussey has been named Player of the Series for his 243 runs and 8 wickets. But the Big Bash Trophy is in the arms of Steven Smith and the Sydney Sixers who pose for the cameras, no doubt jubilant!
Nathan Coulter-Nile was economical and Brad Hogg did his thing once again but it was never enough after Man of the Match Moises Henriques and Stephen O'Keefe's century opening stand.
Their captain Steven Smith guided them home with a cameo and they reached the target with 7 balls to spare and 7 wickets to spare.
And with wickets in hand, they could afford a slight wobble with the win in sight after Edmondson picked up two wickets in the 17th over to put a scare through the Sixers' camp.
He swung freely, and with his partner Stephen O'Keefe rotating the strike, they set it all up with an opening stand of 110 in 50 minutes off 73 deliveries.
Chasing 157 runs to win, they started out slowly but kept their wickets intact and Henriques accelerated the run chase to set up the win.
The Sydney Sixers have flown over to Perth, and batting second, have won the inaugural KFC Big Bash League here at the WACA.
