Thanks for your company this evening. We look forward to your company tomorrow evening for the Second Big Semi Final as the Hobart Hurricanes take on the Sydney Sixers in Hobart at 19:00 AET. Until then, so long!
Mitchell Marsh has been named Man of the Match in this First Big Semi Final, 41 from 22 with the bat to lift the total to 174 and then claiming 2/17 from two overs and taking a couple of crucial catches.
Matthew Wade gave them a sniff with some big hitting but his dismissal in the last over signalled the end of their very slim chances.
The wicket of David Hussey was huge and the middle order once again failed to fire for the Melbourne Stars who were looking for a miracle from the final four overs.
The run chase started well and they were well on track for victory, but with the power play ending, the run rate slowed. Brad Hogg's spell proved crucial and Ben Edmondson bowled a huge over, claiming two wickets to turn the game in Perth's favour.
A brave run chase from the Melbourne Stars comes up short as the Perth Scorchers make it through to the final next Saturday and a spot in the lucrative Champions League.
Over 19.6: Rimmington to Bird, no run, full and wide, gets a thick outside edge to Ronchi, they don't bother to run, the Scorchers win this match and are through to the final!
Over 19.5: Rimmington to McKay, one run, slower ball in the slot but he doesn't quite pick it, slaps it to mid wicket for a single
Over 19.4: Rimmington to McKay, SIX, low full toss on off and he's got all of that one, smashes it into the sight screen behind the straight boundary rope!
Over 19.3: Rimmington to McKay, two runs, pitched up wide of off, lofts it over extra cover, long off around the restrict them to two
Wade c Marsh b Rimmington 37 (21m 17b 2x4 3x6). Partnership of 41 (16m 20b). FOW 8/154 with Jackson Bird in.
Over 19.2: Rimmington to Wade, no run, OUT, that is that! in the slot and swings through the line, strikes it well but not well enough, Marsh takes it on the rope at long on!
Over 19.1: Rimmington to Wade, SIX, pitched up wide of off and he throws the bat at it, clears the deep cover rope for a maximum, glimmer of hope for the Stars
19th Over
Nathan Rimmington to bowl the final over from the Prindiville Stand End and unless Wade can pull something out of the bag, the Scorchers will host the final next Saturday night.
Over 18.6: Edmondson to Wade, one run, moving in his crease trying to upset the bowler but he bowls it full and wide, drives it back past the bowler, only the single - 7/148 (Wade 31*, McKay 5*) require 27 runs from the final over
Over 18.5: Edmondson to Wade, SIX, ramp shot, full and straight, up over his head, Rimmington around from third man catches it but he was over the rope, that's maximum runs!
Over 18.4: Edmondson to McKay, leg bye, full again and followed him as he shuffled to off, off the pad to the off side of the pitch for a leg bye
Over 18.3: Edmondson to Wade, one run, more great bowling, fired in full and he can only manage to dig it out up to long off
Over 18.2: Edmondson to McKay, one run, great bowling, full and straight, can only dig it out to the right of the keeper for a single
Over 18.1: Edmondson to Wade, one run, full and straight, makes room and clubs it up to long on, they settle for the single, probably should have come back for the second!
